What If I Forget?

One reason I don’t post so much at my blog as I once did – I simply don’t have the time to write the well thought out posts that I once did. But I realised today I need to stop being so.. I’m looking for the right word.. not snobby.. not structured.. maybe controlled is the word I am after.

A blog is a place for me to share my thoughts and I need to do that more. So I will try.

The Other Half went camping this weekend so I was here by myself for two days. The last time he did this I completely threw my sleep schedule out of whack. I wasn’t able to sleep while he was not here and ended up staying up almost till daylight.

What was I worried about? I don’t know. Maybe I read too many murder mysteries or something. But this time I was prepared with Restavit which is an antihistamine that helps me to sleep. To be perfectly honest I needed it for anithistamine reasons as well – the wattle is blooming and I always react to that. The first night I took two and I slept the best I have in a long time. I only needed one the second night.

Since we last talked I have myself been camping. I actually enjoyed it though it could have been called glamping. One of the local campsites has ensuite sites which have a full private bathroom right there for the hirer of the site to use. I could easily do camping if that was how it always was.

What if I forget – this is why I need to write things as they arrive to me, off the cuff, less editing more me. We went to Aldi the other night and the European lady in front of us checked out then went over to the packing area – just after we finished checking out she came back and said to the checkout lady – what price are your lettuces?

The checkout lady said I have no idea, I don’t keep track of the prices of everything. The European lady said “it says here $5. These I will return to you” but she said it in a way I cannot quite remember now. I loved how she said it and when we went off to Coles I said it to the other half exactly that way a bunch of times but for the life of me I can’t remember it anymore.

So you can expect some silly posts to come to you as a surprise in the future. :)

Whoops It Is Friday, I forgot..

I’ll do a more complete update on Sunday and link to the other bloggers who are regularly updating (if that is you leave a link in the comments if you didn’t do it on the last post of mine) but just to let you know, we are all good here at the moment. I did some shopping this week and we are pretty much set for a four week lockdown if we need to do it. Well, we mostly will be doing a lockdown as of Sunday other than The Other Half going to work. We have to go out and do some deliveries to folks tomorrow but that will all be low contact and socially distanced.

I do have some stories to tell but it is 11:15pm and past bedtime here. Another day.

I hope you are all doing well. :)

A Little Bit Of Housekeeping

Exciting happenings in Snoskredland – I’m working this next election as second in charge as a surprise. It seems a lot of people have pulled out at the last minute, so I got the call and said yes.

Work is going well, getting shiznit done fast and enjoying every minute of it. How many jobs can you say that about?

Lots of walking and running happening here lately, too.

When I get some spare time I have a couple of longer posts to write. But this is just a quick one to say I am updating the blogroll to remove blogs that no longer exist or have suddenly begun posting weird stuff. Probably next week if I have time, I’ll make sure to add in my new reads.

Hope you are all well!

Wiped Out

A failure to plan is to plan to fail.

I’m struggling a bit at the moment, working with people who cannot plan anything. If I don’t take things into my own hands and make it happen, absolutely nothing happens. In a lot of cases that is fine – I don’t ask, I just do it. But in some cases, there are things I cannot do, such as hire seasonal staff.

We’re meant to have two extra staff in my area from this weekend onwards. Know how many we got? None. Zero. It is just me, and my colleague, and we are “borrowing” one of the other staff who already works there.

We will likely all be expected to put in extra time on top of our planned shifts. Ha, I say planned, like that is an actual thing. This past week I worked 14 hours I was not rostered on for.

When I do a job, I want to do it well. I like to plan. I like to plan WELL ahead of time, as far as possible in advance. The people “in charge” are more fly by the seat of their pants, it will work out, if you just cross your fingers and hope. In general I have not found that concept to be a strategy for success.

So I’m not sure what the next 5-6 weeks will bring. I am pretty sure that I won’t have a lot of time for writing posts. The posting schedule will go out the window – you may only see a Friday post once a week. It may go completely dark here. We’ll see. :)

I Need A Holiday

Usually around this time of year I take a little break from blogging. This year I really need some time to write and get some posts scheduled ahead of time, as I have been falling behind on everything.

It is starting to warm up here which hopefully means Delicate Nirvana time. I can take the laptop out there and write up a storm, and I have some time off this next fortnight to do exactly that.

We do have a trip to Canberra happening this fortnight too. I will be back here on the blog in a couple of weeks. ;)

Later Today

I will post the monthly Year of Buying Nothing update. I have today off. I ran out of time this past week to write the post, and yesterday my Aunt and I spent the day catching the train up to Sydney and back – more for the journey than the destination but we did manage a lunch with my nephew and a sneaky browse around a few shops.

How cute is that sparkly monchichi doll?

Snoskred On Holiday

magnificent

The Other Half just finished his holidays. He spent much of that time building a fabulous pergola which we are enjoying far too much. This is only half of it! It is almost impossible to get a good photo of it, but I will spend some time trying over the next week or so.

kitteholliday

Sitting out there with the chooks and kitties is my idea of perfection. I’ve not taken a holiday from the blog for a little while now, and I would like to get some posts written ahead of time and scheduled, so I’m going to take a time out. I’ll take the laptop out the back and enjoy the magnificent space we have built. Not sure if it will be one or two weeks, I will see how I go. ;)

Whoops I forgot to blog!

stunner

We had a super cold front blast through here yesterday and I had to go out and grocery shop in 6 degree weather. I’m sitting here with the gas heater on, a beanie, a hoodie, a rug, and many many other layers. And it seems I totally forgot to blog yesterday like I had planned. My bad! I will catch you up next week. :) Hopefully it will be warmer as it is meant to be spring soon or something.
