Late last night..

carby

this painting just came to me as a surprise. It looks a lot better in person than it does in photo form.. :) The sea is way pretty, a mix of emerald green, topaz blue and dark blue occasionally mixed in. I tried to think of how the ocean here often looks and that’s not far from it.

Now why did the art teacher tell me I was no good at art, and I never would be any good at it, and stuff? Because clearly I am not terrible at it, this actually looks ok, and maybe with some lessons I could do even better..

I now have 4 projects on the go.. ;) Here’s my painting studio –

The start of my new green painting – this time it will be much less structured than the other, with darker green stripes over the top of this color green base and possibly a gold one or two..

And one that came to me as a surprise, a peach painting..

I think I am actually getting better at this, the more I experiment and try new ideas the better the paintings seem to get. ;) I really like blending these things together and I’m going to try a nice sunset painting soon too.

should have remembered to open window before sealing painting.. now I know why teenage boys sniff glue.. wooooooooooooo I’s high.. yet on the bottle it says this stuff is non-toxic? Maybe if you’re eating it, but if you’re smelling it I think it might be a different matter.. I painted four different highlighting stripes – gold, antique copper, the two mixed together, and bronze. If you click on the picture you’ll see a bigger version, and also one of my cats sneaking into the pic.. she’s acting odd today, all sooky.

Went down the main street earlier with the parents to collect the lobster and prawns for lunch/dinner tomorrow. Also we are going to have roast pork which we won in a meat raffle and froze some weeks ago now. Saw many interstate numberplates which was scary. Considering locking doors and staying inside for at least the next month given they will all be holidaying around here.

I hope kitties are not getting high. They are sitting on the sill of the open window and the smell is somewhat strong there.

Next paintings are going to be more not straight lines, like just stripes that don’t really care where their edges are. I want to do a black background and flower painting too. I found a red cow painting in a magazine, which I liked but do not think I have the talent to recreate. :(

The current state of my painting..

I’ve added the lighter green stripes – it gives an interesting visual illusion, and makes it seem like I painted the darker green over the top. I am now thinking of adding one gold stripe to the side of each of these stripes, but not sure exactly of the logistics of this. I’ll figure it out.

I’ve got this nice pic for you too. These are the flowers that yelled at me to buy them when I was at Bunnings. I really like them and there’s hot pink ones as well as other pink shades and purples..

Aussies, you MUST read this post of Sephy’s and play the chaser clip he’s got there, it is hilarious and incredibly true.. ;)

About Snoskred, Snoskred Art

Millions of things..

Jihanna has blogged the 10 things today. So has Northern_Girl. All ye Nablopomo people looking for something new to blog, consider yourself tagged. Write 10 things about you on your next blog, and post in the comments here to let me know so I can link back to you. If you don’t comment I won’t know, cos I’m not omnipresent or psychic, though I try to be the first.. hehe ;)

Today I woke up with Midnight Oil’s Short Memory in my head – be warned it gets in there and it won’t get out. I am currently hearing Hotel California – a live version, by the Eagles, which I love.

A strange phenomenon is occuring to us lately. We moved here just over 10 months ago, and lately we’ve been missing stuff we are sure we had packed (my paintbrushes, the sequins) and now we seem to be asking ourselves odd questions about what we did with things we used to own. Yesterday I asked the other half what did we do with the Fridge? He asked me what happened to all our plastic chairs.

I thought my paintbrushes must have got lost, or we left them behind. Yesterday I opened a drawer, and was extremely shocked to see them in there. I cried! Seriously, I was so happy to see them, and now you have confirmation that I am psycho, for who would cry over finding some paintbrushes? But it was just complete happiness at finding something I was sure I had lost. I think maybe U2 wrote a song about that once. After I was done crying, I took a photo of them.. here they are, the once missing paintbrushes..

pbrush

The two white fan brushes are the ones I really wanted back, they were from ceramics and I got so used to using them I was worried I wouldn’t be able to paint without them. And the mug they are in, I made that at ceramics, it was one of my almost disasters. You get this paint with stuff that explodes in the kiln. I put too much of the stuff that explodes on.. :)

Anna Falactic asked me yesterday about my painting – here’s my latest. It’s going to have gold over the top, when I’m done. It’s for my Mum, this is her favourite color. I can’t decide whether I should use stamps to put on the gold, or just paint huge gold stripes on it. I don’t want to mess it up, this is a huge canvas. I really had a ball painting this though. I’m going to do a second coat soon and then get started on a hot pink and a royal purple version, these are for me.. ;) You can see the pink paint there.

Beaches! Beaches! Beaches! – Yesterday was pretty bad weather here, extremely windy. When we went for a drive the Ocean seemed to be all riled up, so I got a pic for you.

werri

My sister is driving down for a visit over the weekend, but I will make sure to get online once a day and blog something. Yeah I have a couple of things all written and ready to go.. :) rofl!

And now, to comment on some blogs, then paint, then comment, then paint.. ;) that’s the “agenda” for today. Thanks for all your lovely comments guys!

Painting

I’m not an artist. As you read in this post here I got kicked out of art class. However when I moved here there is this restaurant we often go to and on the walls they have these paintings that are for sale. There is this one which is just blue (the ocean) with a white sort of line across the middle of it (a breaking wave) and I kept saying to the other half – I reckon I could paint that. It’s selling for $350 but I don’t think anyone is buying. ;)

However if I could paint something similar I’d like to put it on my wall and if I enjoy doing it and can manage it a lot cheaper then heck, maybe I’ll take up painting. There’s another one that is just completely black and about halfway down it has red, orange, and yellow blobs meant to be representing flowers. That one I’m pretty sure I can make a painting like it.

art

But always for me when I am painting it seems like some kind of psychological test. Probably because of my art class issues. When I started painting this today the voice in my head just kept saying “How do you feel about this” “Are you enjoying this” “If you’re not enjoying this why are you doing this” you know, that negative little voice that tries to tell you to quit before you’ve even really started. That continued the whole time I was painting the blue – then I painted the black at the top, and then…

I had purple and I wanted to try to blend the blue into the black with a line of purple, you know how it happens at sunset sometimes. I was mixing the purple and blue together and it made that darker color you see just below the black and somehow I got lost in what I was doing.

No more asking questions, no more negativity, just kind of like when I used to color in those squares and see what colors the pencils were. Then once I had met the darker purple with the blue, I went back over with a lighter purple where the horizon would probably be, to lighten it up a bit. It just started to look really good to me.

I don’t know anything about art, I don’t even know how to use the materials I have actually. I just kind of make it up as I go along. But I ended up enjoying this. I’m not done with this painting, there’s more work to do when it dries and I think I will let it dry overnight and then take another look at it because the blue part probably needs going over again, and I have never seen a black sky so I want to try and put some dark blue over that to lighten it up a little bit.

But for a first effort it isn’t bad and maybe if I get some classes and find out what the heck I should be doing, I might enjoy painting as a new hobby. As long as they don’t kick me out. ;)

Quick Blog

templat

I don’t have much time for anything today, long day at work, then we went out to dinner with a really interesting guy from work. Then I get home to find about 500 emails. This picture you see here hangs on my bedroom wall. I really like it, but my other half says it is not possible for this picture to be real. If the sun was where it is shining on the moon, this would be full daylight. So they must have ‘shopped the moon into the picture. While that is kind of bad, I still really love this picture. I thought it was the moon over clouds for a while, but that’s back when I was not wearing my glasses so much. It’s actually breaking waves.

I am going to try and get some pictures like this from some of the local beaches here when the moon is rising, which are real and not shopped. I have to figure out when the moon is, first. ;)

Even when the lights are out, I can still make out the moon, and the blue “clouds” sea and it is a great image to go to sleep to. I am really looking forward to sleep today. What a contrast from yesterday which was a bit of a downer day, to today with a great dinner with family and with a bloke I found quite fascinating. I’m in a much happier frame of mind.
