NaBloPoMo – Half Way Done!

ss5

We’re 15 days into NaBloPoMo.

How are you going? Have you posted every day?

Here are some great things I have spotted in my NaBloPoMo travels..

Taco Mac-n-Cheese Casserole Meal – You can bet I will be making this soonest!

One Pan Wonder – This is such a great idea and my new and awesome roasting pan will be perfect for this. I also think maybe this would work great with shrimp or fish, only putting those things in in the latter minutes of cooking, and I would use white wine, garlic and lemon. Alternatively, par boil the potatoes first which I am wont to do.

De-Clutter: Kitchen Counter – Another one from Angie and I have to say as someone who recently went through this declutter process – the end results are so worth it, so stick with it. :)

Cherry Pie Shortbread Thumbprint Cookies – Yummity yum yum! ;)

Honey Parmesan Pork Roast This is also from Adventures in all things food. I love a good pork roast. :)

Friday Fixins: 6 Kickass FREE Stock Image Resources – This is a handy resource for bloggers. :)

Better Than Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte – Where I live in Australia as I am typing this, it is nearly 100F (40C) outside. So I made this into a smoothie frappe thing, with icecream, instead. :) It works just as well that way!

Spaghetti aglio olio e peperoncino – Super simple but so, so yummy!

Rao’s Famous Lemon Chicken – I love a good lemon chicken. :) Something in me always wants to add lime as well to these things, but I will resist the urge.

Upcoming Projects I’m DYING To Create – The kitty litter box is a great idea though I do think our cats would want more height. We have a screened in back porch on our list of upcoming projects and we will be adding a box like this in there. The Other Half is excellent at making things, as y’all know.

pies: apple cider apple pie – This looks so tasty and I love to combine apples with cheese.

Milky Salted Caramel – Yes, I know, this was from April, but someone linked to it and I love this recipe. :)

Marzipan cake fruitcake tart cheesecake sweet lollipop chocolate cake – Day 5 – I love a text generator and this is much more awesome than Lorem Ipsum.

Pozole Rojo – This blog made me so hungry. :)

Three Recipes I want to Make Right Now – I’m going to add bacon to the baked macaroni thing. :)

This Secret Will Self Destruct in 10 Seconds – I totally have a vault and if you ask me to keep your secret, I will take it to my grave. SRSLY.

Easy Peasy Pecan Rolo Pretzels I love Rolo! This makes me want to go out and buy a few packets. I think combining them with pretzels and pecans would make them healthier, right? :)

And a couple of non NaBloPoMo reads –

No, you are not ‘running late’, you are rude and selfish – I worked with a girl who was regularly 10 minutes late for her shifts. She was sometimes 20 minutes late. She was sometimes 45 minutes late, sometimes an hour. The trouble was, at the time she arrived, if she was not there, I was leaving someone totally alone to handle everything.

When management refused to promote her to a higher level because of her consistent lateness, she went troppo. But you know what? I was always on time. Everyone else was always on time. Myself or other people often had to extend our shift to cover her lateness. She was completely and totally unfair to everyone else in the workplace. I may not have agreed with management on a lot of things, but on that one I was behind them 100%.

Composting With Dog and Cat Waste – I really want to do this – every time I scoop the kitty litter I feel bad about sending that poop to landfill.. I wish councils actually did this. A lot of zoos do this and sell zoo poo..

The rise and fall of John Delorean – The De Lorean was, and probably always will be, the coolest car ever. :)

Here is the NaBloPoMo Link Up –

Unlike a regular link up – Please link to your BLOG URL, not to a post. :)

  1. Well, thanks for stopping by my sad little NaBloPoNO blog…I tried! Then vacation happened. I love all the links today.

It feels almost like the early days of blogging…commenting back and forth! Thanks!

  2. Lots of great suggestions. The composting cat and dog poop? That is a new one on me. But I guess it works. Thanks for stopping by my blog and yes — NaBloPoMo is half way there. Sounds like you are getting the most out of the challenge. Cheers.

    • I remember we went to a composting thing run by the council and they told us cat and dog poop was a no-no for composting, and everyone kind of sighed like they had hoped they could do it. So much animal poop goes to landfill!

      Thanks for dropping by! ;)

  3. This is City Girl from Country Girl-City Girl – thanks for stopping by our blog! It is mid-NaBloPoMo and we’ve failed to post for two days, but we’re picking ourselves up, dusting ourselves off and jumping back into the fray. Please return soon!

Your blog looks great and I love the summary of what you’ve learned from everyone this month. Such a nice idea!

    • I will be returning. ;) I kind of cheated a little – I had November totally written and scheduled before November began, so I could focus on commenting. :)

My one tip for anyone who did not pre-schedule – a photo and a title counts – put a couple of those in drafts in case you have a bad day, and then you can just go in and schedule that to post. ;)

      Thanks for dropping by! ;)

  4. Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting. I have to admit, it never occurred to me to read the other blogs. But that’s really part of the fun isn’t it!

It’s none of my business, but did you really buy all those shoes at one time? A most impressive collections!

    • Do you mean the pic with my legs and the other shoes? We went to Hawaii where shoes which would usually retail here for $160 to $200 sell for $40 or less, so heck yeah I bought quite a few pairs. :) Adi das had buy 2 and get the 3rd free, so I got 3 pairs there for $70 and I had done my research and knew what each pair retailed for here so I knew I was saving big money. I didn’t buy any clothes or shoes here in Australia for a full 12 months before we left and packed super light so I could bring home a lot of shoes and clothes. I have not bought any clothes or shoes since we got back, either.

The best thing about having so many is I can shop my own closet – two weeks ago I borrowed a treadmill, and I was able to go and select a brand new pair of sneakers to use on it which had never been worn on the ground.

Most Skechers retail here for $150+ and I got those at the outlet store for $20 a pair, so even though I was disappointed that I could not get my favourites I did pick up 3 or 4 pairs there.

  5. I loved the way your form for linking the blogs worked – very impressive. Is it available in a free theme via a sidebar widget? I have managed to keep up so far but I have a lot of problems because on my old laptop I can only type one letter at a time, which means a mere 500-word blog can take me up to an hour or longer. To make matters worse we are no longer allowed to access the internet at work so no help there! And as you will doubtless know most people spend most of their time at work. I certainly do. So, getting back to Nablopomo towards the middle of the second week I had a buffer of 4 posts, i.e on my monthly list that I devised I was at least 4 blogs ahead of the current day. Now though because of work and family I lost that advantage and today, for example, I had to research, write and review and post my blog TODAY. I finished 1 hour before midnight with my 1-key typing. Anyway I hope you are enjoying all the blogs you are interacting with. All the best, Martin

    • It is called Inlinkz and you can create your own via their website – http://www.inlinkz.com – I ended up signing up and deciding the free version was a little too limited for what I wanted to do, so I paid the $20 fee for a year and I am really loving it. But the free version works perfectly fine as well and I did a few link ups with that before I went for the paid service.. :)

I think though it might be time to shout yourself a new laptop. :)

I am having a lot of fun and I am finding a lot of really great new blogs which is harder than it sounds in this day and age.

  6. Hey there! Thanks for stopping by my blog! I love your roundup here and I added my blog to the linkup. I have never joined a linkup before. No time like the present…

I added your blog to my feed as well! Can’t wait to see your next post! :)

    • Thanks for dropping by! ;)

Linkups can be pretty awesome, it is how I have found some amazing bloggers. I am always looking for more to read, even with 650 blogs in my feed reader, there is never more than 210 posts when I wake up in the morning, and I usually read that pretty quickly. Being a fast reader can sometimes be a bad thing but in the case of NaBloPoMo it is a great thing. :)
