Thought For Today - Super Tuesday 5th February
Thunder on! Stride on! Democracy. Strike with vengeful strokes.
Walt Whitman
For those not into American politics, you may not be aware that today is a big day in US Politics. It may be the day that decides who the US presidential candidates will be. It is a very confusing way of doing things to those of us not living within the country (and perhaps even to some of those within the country) but it does give the American people a chance to have a say in who their candidate will be. If we had that here, who knows whether the current PM or the previous PM would ever have got into power.

thanks for reminding me about Super Tuesday … what with being so busy at work I’d completely forgotten about checking the voting results on American news sites
if anyone wants to keep track of results live NPR (National Public Radio) is a reliable news source -> http://www.npr.org/templates/topics/topic.php?topicId=1102#/primaries/
Ah yes, American Politics. We’ve been having primaries and caucuses for a month now, in a few key states so chosen by their ability to get in line first. Super Tuesday is for all the other states that missed the boat to get themselves a primary or caucus. We all get to vote for the person we want to see on the ballot in November so we can vote for them then.
American politics is confusing to us too. Don’t even get me started on the electoral college.
I have to admit I get totally confused by all the rules and regs on how these caucuses and primaries run, but I do know to follow the debates and get out and make my vote count. Hopefully all of your US readers who can vote today will!
