Monday 26th November - Song For Today

Tree Shrew

I sit and wait

does an angel contemplate my fate

and do they know

the places where we go

when we’re grey and old

‘cos I have been told

that salvation lets their wings unfold

so when I’m lying in my bed

thoughts running through my head

and I feel that love is dead

I’m loving angels instead

Angels - Robbie Williams

Robbie Williams is not very well known in the USA, but he is probably the most well known male singer in the UK, Europe and Australia. Angels is his most well known song but he has so many songs to choose from - another song of his may pop up during this series because I never specified that it was only one song per artist. Angels is completely a sing along song, once you know the words. It is simply beautiful. And he ain’t bad to look at, either.

Robbie is an amazing singer - and the only ex-member of the band Take That who did not join them when they reformed. He left the band before they actually split up and went off to have his own solo career which has been huge. I believe he has the best song lyric ever in one of his songs (Sin, Sin, Sin) about religious cults “Please don’t read my mind, I tell the truth to me” but I didn’t pick that song today, though I love it.

Snokky we obviously have similar tastes in men - Antony and Robbie!!!
I’m planning on maybe having Robbie’s baby when he grows up!
Wild child that he is, I still love his ballads, most of his lyrics, his melodies and his look (well, that was until I saw Ben Coussins!! WOW).

    LOL at Megan!

I’m a huge Robbie fan too. So much so I left my 8 week old daughter for 18 hours to fly to Sydney for his concert in 2003. At least last year I only had to go to Brisbane.

He’s just too yummy for words.

I’m not familiar with a lot of artists but this guy sounds great. I’ll be keeping my ears (and eyes, ahem) open for more of him. ;)

I live in Texas and discovered Robbie Williams while watching the Slane Castle concert on TV in 2000 or so. He was a ball of energy with a glorious voice. He continues to be my very favorite singer of all time. His voice is so powerful…his songs are versatile…and he just sings it straightforward…..NO trilling!! Yea!! And he is very handsome too! I heard he was recently introduced as the most famous man in the world…outside of the USA! Poor us…the record companies in America are doing us no favors with the quality of music offered here.

I’m not a huge Robbie Williams fan but he did do some ok songs. Karma Killer was a good one. The video for rock DJ was awesome too.
