It is difficult to find a happy and positive lyric in Sarah’s songs, but her voice is so stunning you don’t tend to notice that the lyrics are a bit.. unhappy. If you have never heard her sing before I highly recommend wandering through a few of her songs on YouTube.

There are a couple of 9/11 tributes on YouTube that have this song as the background. Make me weep like a baby every time I watch them.

My younger daughter is a Sarah McLachlan fan. Me, not so much. I agree she is a great singer, her voice doesn’t make me cringe, but as I’m hard of hearing, I tend to listen closely to the lyrics so that I know what the person is singing about. If the lyrics are sad, usually that’s the end of the song for me. I prefer listening to stuff that makes me happy.

I have been a Sarah fan for more than 10 years. I think the first time you listen to Sarah her songs would appear to be melchanoly in nature and may even seem depressing but if you really listen to the lyrics and feel the melody of her songs, almost all of them have hope weaved in them. IAngel is a good example of this. In just one breath Sarah can bring you from despair to amazing hope and a feeling of connectedness. It is not just that she has a great voice but that she beautifully melds that voice with lyrics and harmony that create a mood and a feeling like no other artist I have ever listened to. Angel is the song she is most known for publicly but is only a small snippet of her brillance.
