I’m hoping you made it here safely.
You may be seeing this on the feed but when you click to the site you may not be able to see the site yet. Never fear, it will happen sometime over the next 24 hours.
When you make it here, please leave a comment to let me know that you can access the site.
You might also want to mention what you think of the new look. I like it, but I am biased. ;)
There is still some work to do on the sidebars and a few other little things like the background color when you leave a comment. Keep checking back over the next few days. If you find any errors can you please shoot me an email.
You can register as a member of the site by clicking on Join This Site, just under the Subscribe icon. Registering means you will not have to enter in your information every time you want to leave a comment.
Today is Tuesday Think Tank day, and I would be posting that before going to bed in a few hours if I were not utterly exhausted. It will be posted tomorrow, which will be Wednesday here but it will be Tuesday somewhere in the world I’m sure.. ;)
Later this week I will talk about the inspiration for the color scheme and the process of changing to WordPress that should have been simple but turned into a trip to Las Vegas with Satan without any cash to get a hotel room or bet on roulette. In other words, very little sleep – or fun – was had by all.
It has been a long week of struggling with code, struggling with servers, struggling with plugins, struggling with importing the blog from blogger only to find that the permalinks were not the same, and having to work out a fix for that. And now, there’s going to be a long couple of weeks going back and editing every post individually – because there is no simple way to bring the photos across, and I figure I might as well redo the categories at the same time. The theme was the simplest and easiest thing we did – it was also the first thing we did. Each time we got a problem sorted, a new problem appeared. The Other Half’s holidays disappeared into a void of trying to make this blog work. I cannot tell you the amount of hours it took. Far too many for something that should have been simple, right?
Still, we survived it with only one major meltdown by me earlier today when I felt like giving up entirely, and now here we are. I am sure I will look back on this one day and laugh, but it’s going to be a long time.. I love the blog design. I’m not as keen on WordPress as I was when I started this process, though. It is better than blogger, but a technical nightmare I hope to wake up from in the morning. Please, let me wake up from a decent nights sleep and let everything be working!
Edit to add – Ok, for now I am turning the math plugin off, until I can work out what is wrong with it. If you had a problem with it can you please comment with exactly what was happening? I edited it to be simple numbers only because I did fail maths and I didn’t want it to be too much work for people..
I’m off to bed – I’m putting the blog into the capable hands of Sephy once he wakes up, and he’ll approve your comments. It is only the first comment which needs approving, after that you’re all set. ;)
Well, you’ve done a good job importing the theme to WP.
I like it and the colour scheme does remind me of the waters of the south coast of New South Wales
Hooray, I found your new site! I think it looks great. It is reminiscent of your old site, so I don’t feel like I am at a completely foreign blog, but better. You done good!
I got here! But Bloglines didn’t pick up the feed for this particular post. Are you sure we don’t have to unsubscribe and subscribe to your new feed again? Anyway, I’m going ahead with it, since I’m already here =)
Congrats to your own domain! =)
I found it! I found it!
Will the feed remain the same? I don’t know what feed I have … I think it’s feedburner. I don’t have to do anything different do I? I guess I’ll find out if it’s not updating! :D
I believe Bloglines subscribers will have to re-subscribe if they were using the older feed. Right now I have to wait about 24 hours for the internet to catch up with what I’m doing before I can be sure what is going on with the feeds. I can’t redirect feedburner here yet because feedburner can’t find the page. It will happen, it will just take a little time.
Thanks everyone – and now I really am going to try and get some sleep.. the most I’ve been managing the last few nights is 4-5 hours. Late nights working on the blog, and early mornings due to the builders who were supposed to be finished a couple of weeks ago starting about 6am.
I will get my routine back.. this is my new mantra. ;)
and the Google reader didn’t pick up this most recent post either!! I’ve had problems with the feed ever since i moved and didn’t have the time to fix !! may be you wanna make a post asking everyone to resubsribe anyway… I will be doing it!
Woo hoo, finally on WordPress.
I am keeping my blog on Blogger for the minute but probably going to make sure any new ventures I start use WordPress.
I wonder if blogger will be responding somehow to this big leap everyone is taking over to WordPress?
My Bloglines shows your Attention Please post (which is now a 404 page) so I came here from that link, but Bloglines users will need to subscribe to a new feed as the old one no longer exists. And I like it – colours, layout etc.
Hopefully now you’ve got all the hard, frustrating stuff out of the way and WordPress will become a lot more fun for you :-)
My feedburner only picks up one feed and I’ve tried to unsubscribe and subscribe again but it’s still not picking up anything new. I’ll give it a day and try again.
Welcome to WordPress, fellow WordPressian. :)
Yay for WordPress!
All smooth for me. Your feed came through as though nothing had changed, then one click and here I am.
All working smoothly for me. Came through from my reader without any problem.
Welcome to WordPress. I really like the new design..great job!
Job well done! Your site looks very clean and organized! I love the dark blue. :-D
Like the new site and the new look…
i love it! looks great.
i feel like i should bring a house warming present. pretend i am bring a virtual bunt cake! LOL
Beautiful!!! Hmmm… I need a better looking theme. Can I steal yours? :)
I just got here
sorry I’m late
just have to say
the new site looks great!
(Blame Darren – he woke the sleeping poet)
I love it!
It is still very Snosy (I just made up a word!) but it feels a lot more spacious – probably because there’s only one sidebar.
And, welcome to WordPress! Yay!
I love the new look! I still can’t wait for the posts on your whole experience moving everything. I know the longer I wait the worse it will be, but I have so very little time right now with work and now the holiday social life coming up.
I read thru google reader, and had to re-subscribe since when I subscribed the first time it picked up the snoskred.blogspot.com address. Just an FYI.
It looks great, and you did well with the transition to WordPress which definitely isn’t too easy. And yes, I do love your design. :)
Yah! I think it looks great!!!!! I couldn’t find your blog earlier in the day but it’s here now! :-)
Wooohoo! You did it. How sad is it it took ME nearly 24 hours to find??
I had to resubscribe in google reader as well, but all seems to be working now. I love the look!
Great job! When are you going to be ready to do mine – LOL, sorry, bad joke ;-)
I have “Life in the country” listed in my favourites, so whenever or wherever you move, I just have to click on that and there you are.
Looks good from ireland also. Great site
Well, I must say that I like this theme better than your last. It doesn’t matter which blogging platform it is as long as it’s you.
Nice work, me likey. :)
Nicely done!
Your site is looking great – stylish, easy to read and navigate. Did you keep your old site up and running and divert traffic here? Reading this I am glad that I have not yet changed over but left it until I have a stretch of time to concentrate on doing so!
I’m so glad you all made it here and thank you for all the lovely things you said about my new blog and color scheme.
I made the decision to change to two sidebars on the left after feeling a bit crushed by the other format. This theme makes me feel like there’s more space to write. Silly, but true.
I left the old blogspot blog where it is, and that blog will eventually have most of the posts removed. I won’t delete it – NEVER delete a blogspot blog because some spammer will take over your URL and put all kinds of weird stuff there. ;)
Now that I’ve had a little time to get over the struggles, I am feeling better about WordPress. It just seemed like nothing was simple for a few days there. ;)
Thanks for all the comments, I appreciate your thoughts more than you’ll ever know. ;)
Cheers!
Snoskred
I’m here, my feed picked up right where you left off.
