Meg - I was glad to read about it on your site, that's what let me know what was going on.. ;) You have such a great way of communicating stuff. Just so you know. ;)

Rob - Thanks for dropping by! ;)

Eric - I've obviously replied to you at length in my new post. Your premise is incorrect. People often join communities because people joined theirs. That's the way these social networks work. You are so busy trying to argue that you are right, you're not stopping to consider the realities and full implications of the situation. Please, take a step back, a deep breath, and try to see it from our viewpoint.

Alex - I'm hopeful Eric will see the light. If not, we all know blogcatalog is out there and available to us to use. I haven't checked it out yet but I certainly intend to now.

Peter - each one counts. Unless people get up and voice their dislike of something, change doesn't happen. I'm hopeful more people will speak out.

Julie - right back atchya ;) And I just did, I sent you an email.. ;) lol

Thanks for all your comments, I appreciate them. ;)

I agree to the no spam and have deleted myself from communities doing so and informed MyBlogLog of my feelings. Not that I think it will go anywhere as I am only 1 of 180.000 and they even recommended that we delete out of communities

Great post and I'll be joining "No Spam" from me! I have been very vocal against this one on MBL blog using my nick "freesecrets" and you are right - we need to let people know that we will not spam them!

Note to Eric. Unsolicited messaging is still a SPAM - no exceptions. You guys refuse to see bigger picture and I'm starting to wonder why? I will not be posting any comments on MBL blog, as they make no difference or so it seems. We have voiced our opinion supported by good arguments and all we get in return is brash off.

Alex

Snoskred -- I'd like to clear up some confusion.

Only the author of a community can send out a community message. All the 419 spammers in the world can join your community and not a single one will be able to mass message you and your members.

The only way a Nigerian spammer can take advantage of this is if you join *their* community and why would anyone do that?

That's a great commitment :) I hope it takes off.

Thanks for letting me know about the badge (and also for the mention). I've updated my post to include a link to your commitment and Jon's badge.
