Website to die for..

The Other Half got a new laptop recently which came to me as a great surprise - he did not tell me he was buying it. It’s a new kind of laptop and the screen is a sort of touch screen you can write on and draw on. It is also a lot smaller than the average laptop and therefore we had a problem, none of the bags we found at any of the local retailers would fit. So being that I am the female, and being that I’m at home all day, I was given the task of trying to find something online. Someone in my google reader had written about lovely laptop bags not long ago but I couldn’t find the post, so I googled.

Sometimes when you google you get ads on the side of your search. I usually ignore them but this time there was a tempting link and I clicked on it. I was instantly whisked to one of the best shopping websites I have seen on the internet, ever. You know when someone does something incredibly well and it impresses the heck out of you? I was highly impressed by Rushfaster - and they are an Australian company based in Sydney with a showroom and everything. You bet I want to visit the next time we make the trip.

I should probably mention at this point that I may be female but I’m not your average female. I don’t love wearing high heeled shoes and makeup. I do have a love affair with handbags and handbag shops. The other half regularly has to drag me away from windows where I am looking at bags. I try not to cry when he won’t buy me a new one. It is very difficult because I want all the handbags on the planet.

So what is so good about their website? Firstly the layout is clean and crisp. I’ve been a fan of green on websites for some time now. It is well laid out and easy to find what you are looking for. They have a wall of bags. They have products I’ve never even thought of let alone seen anywhere though that may be because I keep being dragged away from bag shops. Like these bags with solar panels in them. Lots of photos of the bags, which it seems they have taken themselves. I love people with a sense of humor - at the bottom of the site it says - Don’t steal our images, that would be most uncool.

Best of all these people really tell you the kind of things you want to know when looking for a bag without being there in person. For example, when I am looking for a handbag, I want to know where I can put my mobile phone. This bag here (which I fancy) has - # 1x main compartment with small zippered compartment inside # 1x frontal compartment.

However it is in the laptop bag area where these guys really excel. You can choose by brand and model number - if yours is there. If it’s not, just enter in the laptop dimensions and it gives you all the bags your laptop will fit into. This was perfect for what I was doing, and exactly what I needed to find. The Other Half is still trying to make a decision on what to buy - he’s a slow decision maker. While I’ve been writing this he’s sent me 5 different links to bags on the site via skype which he’s considering. I’ll let you know what he chooses.

I could go on for days because it is not often that on the internet you find something so perfect. We get promised a lot but websites rarely deliver what we need when we need it. This is an example of a company who have worked very hard to think about what people will want from them, and then they have gone and made it so. If the site was designed by a company (it doesn’t say) then I hope they get to work designing other websites in the way they have designed this one.

No, they haven’t paid me anything to say all this - but when I am impressed with something I want to tell everyone and when I find a company doing something great I like to share it. I know a lot of Aussie readers read this and here in Australia we have not exactly been overrun with excellent online shopping, so when it comes to me as a surprise I’m going to tell ya’all.
