Grateful

I think the comment anonymous made had a very different effect from what he/she intended. ;) Because the ill-educated person kept returning to the same page and didn’t go to the blog URL, they didn’t see what I had posted about them, so I wrote a comment there for them. I want to put a bit of the comment here for you all to see - there’s more to it than this, you can see the rest here, but this is the really important bit.

You may think my life is miserable, but mate I gotta tell you - my life is actually extremely pleasant. I have everything I could possibly want. I am lucky enough to have a great partner who I adore and who adores me, and who earns enough that I can stay home and paint and bait and iron his shirts and cook him breakfast. I have two fantastic cats. I don’t have kids of my own nor do I want them, I have nephews that I can give back which in my opinion is the better deal. I live in a house which is beautiful as well as very clean and tidy and full of excellent appliances. My parents are millionaires, which means as long as they can stop my sister from spending all that money my whole family is assured of being taken care of. I have a great car. I get to travel a lot. I live not far from some of the most amazing scenery I’ve ever seen. The only things I can truly say are missing from my life is more DVD’s. And I miss not being able to listen to the police scanner since they went digital, because those guys have a brilliant sense of humour and it was always interesting.

And you posting this hasn’t achieved anything except make me realise how thankful I am for all of the above. So thanks, for what you said. ;) I’ll try not to walk out in front of a bus or anything, just for you, mmmkay?

And that’s how I’m feeling today. My heart is quite full of happiness. Contentment, actually. I am a really lucky person to have everything that I do have. I’m blessed. That’s the bottom line.

May you all be equally blessed in your lives, that’s my wish for today. Even anonymous, who clearly needs something good in their life.

Clearly, anonymous does… and who doesn’t need more DVD’s? :)

I deal with a lot forums that cause rants and flame wars and the like, and all that attitude does is cause more problems. On the other hand, I have found responses like yours to go in the following manner(s): a) They just ignore it and sulk because they really felt they were awful clever in their insulting way; b) they act reasonable the next time… or maybe even leave a reasonable reply (granted this is not the usual response); or c) they get even angrier… a) is the usual response in my experience.

And returning the blessing from across the Pacific… we need more of that in our lives :)
